Project Description
Perini Management Services is the prime contractor for the construction of a new two-story visitor center building and major site improvements in Everglades National Park. The new visitor center is named after Marjory Stoneman Douglas, an American journalist known for her tireless efforts in defense of conserving the Everglades against encroaching development. The major scope elements include: constructing a new visitor center; creating a new public entryway off the roadway; elevating the site to address tidal impact, seasonal flooding and increase site resiliency; replacing existing bulkheads; expanding the marina basin; dredging the marina and boat channels; and installing a living shoreline. Project is funded by the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA).
